If you have a customer list that you would like to use with the ThinkMarketing email marketing module, such as that from your previous email marketing program, it can be imported into ThinkReservations for you.
Collect and Prepare Files
Work with the email marketing program that contains your historical data to export the data so that you can send it to us.
Any custom or default customer field can be mapped with data from your import.

Name (First and Last name must be in two columns)
Company
Address (Six fields for full address)
Phone fields (Phone, Cell Phone, Work Phone)
Notes (custom notes, not reservation notes)
Agreed to marketing emails (binary, use "true" and "false")
Tags (Used to segment your customer lists)
Custom customer attributes (not reservation or group attributes)
Export Contact from MailChimp
Export Contact from MailChimp
Log into your Mailchimp account.
Go to the Audience tab at the top.
Select the audience (list) you want to export.
Click on the Manage Audience drop-down menu.
Select Export Audience.
Choose the export format (usually CSV).
Confirm and Mailchimp will generate the CSV file.
Download the file directly or get a download link emailed to you.
Mailchimp exports can include entire audiences, segments, tags, and all contact statuses (subscribed, unsubscribed, cleaned).

Review the files using your favorite spreadsheet program, such as Excel, Sheets, or Numbers. Feel free and delete any columns that you don't wish to import.
Send ThinkReservations support an email with three CSV files:
Subscribed – Opted-in emails. These are the email addresses of users who have explicitly agreed to receive marketing communications from you.
Unsubscribed – Opted-out emails. These are email addresses of users who have specifically indicated they no longer wish to receive marketing emails and want to be removed from your list.
Cleaned – Suppressed emails. These addresses have resulted in hard bounces, often due to typos or invalid addresses, and have been automatically removed from active mailing to maintain list health.

Log into your Constant Contact account.
Go to the Contacts page.
Click Actions > Export selection.
In the popup, select all of the desired fields that you would like in your export.
Click Export.

Review the files and remove any unneeded columns. Send ThinkReservations the file or files that you exported out of Constant Contact for us to import for you.
If you have a list or segment of contacts that need to be added to a subscribed, unsubscribed, or suppressed/cleaned list, please send those as separate files. Name them appropriately so that it's clear how to handle them.
Attach Files in Email to ThinkReservations
Send an email to ThinkReservations with the file(s) and notes to support@thinkreservations.com. Use the column headers to send instructions on which columns should be mapped to which fields in ThinkReservations, so there is as little ambiguity as possible for our team when they import your files.
Each new imported email address will create a new customer profile in your customer database on your account.
If you would like us to do a test import with a single or limited number of contacts, we are happy to do so. Just make sure to provide details in your email so we know that is something you would like us to do for you.
The process for us to import your files is something that typically can be completed within a few business days of receiving your email.

What fields are required?
Only the email address field is required.
Will my data overwrite an existing customer in my database?
The following fields will be overridden with information from the import if a matching/existing email address is found on your ThinkReservations customer database:
Agreed to Marketing
Suppressed Status
Tags
Nothing else!
Tags are additive. New tags will be added to existing customer providles without removing existing tags. Logic is in place to prevent duplicate tags with the same name.
What if my export has the customer or guest name as one column?
Please put the first name and last name into their own columns. If you need help with this, let us know and we can work on this for you. However, this may delay the amount of time it takes for us to import your information.
Are the imported customer profiles availale for reservation, or only email marketing?
These emails will create users in the customer database in your account. They can be then associated with reservations and seen in your Customers page along with your other users.
Do I need to subscribe to ThinkMarketing to be able to take advantage of a customer import?
No, you don't need to be a current ThinkMarketing client. We are happy to import a database for any client.
