ThinkReservations allows you to specify some parameters in the URL or link that you share with your prospective guests. This allows you to create and share special links.

When you go to check availability for your property in the online booking engine, the URL (link in the address bar of your browser) lists parameters for you. See the below image for a color-coded example:

You can see what it looks like with multiple parameters specified, separated with an ampersand: &

Note the parameters in this order from URLs:

  • start_date

  • end_date

  • number_of_adults

  • number_of_children

  • customer_group

  • coupon_code

  • room_id

Please note: To make these example links your own, you will need to change to your account's shortname. To find your shortname, look at your ThinkReservations booking engine link. Below are some examples with the account shortname bolded:

Below are the parameters with more details and examples using "theviewpoint" account

Coupon Code / Promo Code:

The "Code" (Promotional Code) goes at the very end. In the example below, the code is "SPECIAL2024. " Codes are not case sensitive.

https://secure.thinkreservations.com/theviewpoint/reservations?customer_group=coupon_code&coupon_code=SPECIAL2024

When using this option, the promotional code will automatically populate into the correct field with what you specify in the URL. The code must be set up in advance in your Rate Type's Details tab first.

Room-Specific -
Room to be presented first in the list of results:

The example below is using the room code for "Hillcrest Cottage," which is normally the last room on the list.
The Room code is found at the top of the room's settings page in ThinkReservations. It's unique for each room.

https://secure.thinkreservations.com/theviewpoint/reservations?room_id=3fdd7d00-9a71-4654-b0e1-8014e43dc007

Please note: The process is a little different for properties that use Room Types. If your property sells by Room Type on the booking engine, you will need to use the Room Type ID, and not the room ID. Please reach out to support to get the Room Type IDs.

  1. When you have this special link in use, the guest will be directed to your Search Page, where they can choose their travel dates and specify how many guests are in their party.

  2. When they click Search, they will then be directed to a list of search results on the Results Page. This page is where you will see a difference.

  3. The room you specified in the link will be the first on the list in the search results!

If that room isn't available for those travel dates, we expose a message at the top of the results and still show the other options for those dates and occupancy and allow them to choose other dates.

Check-In Date and Check-Out Date:

Must specify/use check in date when specifying check out date.

https://secure.thinkreservations.com/theviewpoint/reservations/availability?start_date=2022-02-14&end_date=2022-02-15

Number of Adults:

https://secure.thinkreservations.com/theviewpoint/reservations?number_of_adults=1

Number of Children:

https://secure.thinkreservations.com/theviewpoint/reservations?number_of_children=1

Please note: Unless you specify the number of adults, it will assume 2 adults.

https://secure.thinkreservations.com/theviewpoint/reservations?number_of_adults=1&number_of_children=1

You can specify/use Number of adults and check in/out date when specifying occupancy:

https://secure.thinkreservations.com/theviewpoint/reservations/availability?start_date=2020-02-12&end_date=2020-02-13&number_of_adults=1&number_of_children=1

Customer Group:

In the example below, the Customer Group is called "Government Rate" and must be set up in advance in the account.

Please note: Have spaces in your Customer Group name? Use a plus sign + where you have spaces.

https://secure.thinkreservations.com/theviewpoint/reservations?customer_group=Government+Rate

Website Widget: We also have a widget template for a "Check Availability Widget". If you have access to a web developer who is proficient in CSS and JavaScript it can be branded and customized for your site.
