Credit Card Portal

The article guides you through how you can collect credit card information for reservations that do not have a card on file. This is especially beneficial after switching payment processors due to the loss of all CC data that occurs during the switch.

Before you can begin using the Credit Card Portal to collect cards for reservations, you will need to create an email and/or text message template to send to those relevant reservations.

To create a new email template for CC Portal:

  1. Navigate to Settings --> Email Templates

  2. Create a new email template using type "Reservation" and name it (we recommend naming it "Credit Card Portal")

  3. Ensure that the content of the email contains the personalized variable ${reservation.credit_card_portal_url}

  4. Below is a sample template you can use for inspiration

To create a new message template for CC Portal (if you are using ThinkMessenger):

  1. Navigate to Settings --> Message Templates

  2. Create a new message template using type "Reservation" and name it (we recommend naming it "Credit Card Portal")

  3. Ensure that the content of the message contains the personalized variable ${reservation.credit_card_portal_url}

  4. Below is a sample template you can use for inspiration

    2. Choose the Credit Card Portal template you create in the email template dropdown

    3. Confirm the content and edit if needed, then click Send at the bottom right of the modal

    4. Select the reservation for which you are sending the text

    5. Click Send on the message

  4. The guest will now receive your message and can click on the link to update their card. The link will take them to a page like the one shown below
