Using ThinkReservations in Spanish

How to choose the language you want to use in your ThinkReservations back office

¡Bienvenidos! You can now use ThinkReservations in Spanish. When you turn it on, menus, screens, buttons, forms and in-app messages all switch to Spanish. This article walks you through how to turn it on and what to expect.

TABLE OF CONTENTS

  • Turn on Spanish for your user

  • Switch back to English

  • Which language you see

  • What's translated

  • What stays in English or in your own words

  • Good to know

  • Report a translation issue

  • Translating your website and booking engine for guests

Important Information:

  • The language setting is personal. It applies only to your own user. One person at your property can work in Spanish while everyone else keeps English.

  • No administrator is needed. Each user can change their own language in under a minute.

  • Your guests are not affected. Changing your staff language does not change what guests see on your website or receive by email. See Translating your website and booking engine for guests below.

  • The Spanish uses formal usted and Latin American terms.

Turn on Spanish for your user

  1. Log in to ThinkReservations.

  2. Click the Settings icon (the sliders, just left of the ? help icon) in the black bar at the top. The Account Settings page opens.

  3. In the Profile Information section, open the Language menu.

  4. Choose Español.

  5. Click Update Profile.

  6. Reload the page once. Every screen now shows in Spanish.

Pro Tip: Your language follows your user, not your computer. Once you choose Spanish, you'll see Spanish on every device you log in from.

Switch back to English

Follow the same steps. The labels will be in Spanish, so here's what to look for:

  1. Click the Settings icon in the black bar at the top. The Configuración de la cuenta page opens.

  2. Open the Idioma menu and choose English.

  3. Click Actualizar perfil, then reload the page.

Which language you see

The language you choose for your user always wins. ThinkReservations checks in this order:

  1. Your own choice on Account Settings (English or Español).

  2. Your property's default language, if you've never chosen one. For most properties, this is English.

  3. English, if neither is set.

English and Spanish are available for staff screens today.

What stays in English or in your own words

Choosing Spanish changes the screens you work in. It does not translate what your property writes, what guests receive, or what partners send.

What

How it appears

Why

Your property's own content: room and rate names, items, policies, custom attributes, notes

Exactly as you wrote it

Your text is shown as entered. Write it in the language your team works in.

Email templates, ThinkMessenger text and WhatsApp templates

In the language you wrote them in

Guests receive what you write. To send Spanish messages, write your templates in Spanish.

Printed documents and PDFs: bills, folios, registration cards, rooming lists

If something on this list matters to your property, let our Support team know. Your feedback helps us decide what to translate next.

Good to know

  • Dates and amounts keep their current format. Most dates still show in US order with English month names, such as "October 15, 2026" or "10/15/2026". Most amounts show as "$1,234.00".

  • Some screens mix two languages. Labels are in Spanish, but names your property entered, partner text and a few system messages stay as they are.

  • One term, everywhere. Each hotel term uses the same Spanish word on every screen. If you call our Support team, these are the words you'll both see:

Report a translation issue

See a wrong, unclear or missing translation? Let our Support team know. We can fix it fastest when you include:

  1. Where it appears: the screen, or the page address from your browser.

  2. What it says: a screenshot, or the exact words shown.

  3. What it should say: the wording your team would expect, if you have one.

  4. What kind of issue it is: English on a Spanish screen, or Spanish that reads wrong.

⚠ Before reporting English on a Spanish screen, check What stays in English or in your own words above. Your property's own text and partner text are expected to stay as written.

Translating your website and booking engine for guests

What your guests see is a separate setting from your staff language. You choose which languages your website and booking engine offer on the Translations screens. Guests then see:

  • The site's own text (buttons, checkout steps and the language menu) in each language you offer.

  • Your property content, machine-translated automatically: rooms, room types, rate types, items, packages, add-ons, amenities, your property description and policies, and ThinkWeb pages including FAQs, events and blog posts. You can correct any machine translation on the Translations screens.

  • The privacy policy and accessibility statement in Spanish. In other languages, the accessibility statement shows in English. If you've entered your own Privacy Policy in Settings, the privacy page shows yours instead.
