Rate Type Imports and Exports

Export or download and import or upload your rate type data with CSV files

Each base rate features rate and restriction information that can be exported or downloaded. This information can then be manipulated outside of ThinkReservations in your favorite spreadsheet program such as Microsoft Excel or Google Sheets and then imported or uploaded back into ThinkReservations.

Download Rate Information

Follow these steps to export rates and restrictions from a particular base rate. The downloaded file will be a CSV file that can be opened in your spreadsheet program.

  1. Navigate to Settings > Rate Types > Choose a base rate to work with.

  2. Click the Rates & Restrictions tab.

  3. Click the Download... button on the top right.

  4. In the popup, select the date range of the data that you would like to download. If you don't need to export all attributes, uncheck the boxes.

  5. Click the Download button in the popup and save the file to your computer.

Manipulating the Data

Open the file that you downloaded in your spreadsheet program. Ensure your exported file includes all dates you want to work with, even if there is no data there yet. Think of the exported file as a template.

  • All data is case-sensitive.

  • Do not use a $ dollar sign when setting pricing.

  • Blank data for an attribute for a set date tells the system to remove.

    • The exception is Closed on Arrival and Closed on Departure. "False" means it is not enabled for that date.

Make the changes as you see fit, and ensure that you check your work. Save your changes to the file when you are done so that you can upload it back into ThinkReservations.

Upload Rate Information

Downloaded rate information can then be imported or uploaded back into ThinkReservations. You must use a specific format, so start with a download to use as a template. You can upload rate information from one rate type into a different rate type if needed.

  • Uploaded data will replace existing data.

  • Blank data in the price row will remove any set pricing.

  • Only room and date data specified in the file will be used. Existing data not specified will be left alone.

  1. Navigate to Settings > Rate Types > Choose a base rate to work with.

  2. Click the Rates & Restrictions tab.

  3. Click the Upload... button on the top right.

  4. In the popup, click Browse or Choose File and select the CSV file to upload.

  5. Click the Upload button and the system will check the file.

  6. Carefully inspect the rate type for the changes you are expecting, as there is no undo button.

  7. After you checked your work, click the Save button on the rate type.
