If you are interested in our integration with EMV chip card readers, please reach out to support to learn more.
Initial considerations and prerequisites
EMV transactions are only available for card-present transactions when you can take physical possession of the guest's credit card.
Only transactions processed with the guest's physical card by the terminal are protected EMV transactions.
Heartland currently integrates with the Equinox Luxe EMV Terminals. These are currently supported only if you are using Heartland as your payment processor.
ThinkPayments customers can also use EMV terminals, and are handled separately from what is described in this article.
The initial cost of EMV Terminal hardware is $950. This price includes taxes, setup, and shipping.
ThinkReservations does not charge any ongoing fees to use EMV beyond the upfront cost of the hardware.
Getting Started
The first step is to contact our support team and let them know you are interested in taking advantage of our integration. We will ask you to submit some information about your business to us via email.

Timeline
The overall process for getting your property up and running with an EMV device is 2-3 weeks. Factors make it difficult to give an exact timeframe, but our goal is to have it to your door in about 2 weeks. This timeframe is largely dependent on Heartland's response time and device availability.
How to proceed
If you want to proceed, Heartland and ThinkReservations will work with you to set up your business and account. The team at Heartland will handle the agreement and changes to your account, while ThinkReservations will handle the terminal device setup and shipment.
When you are ready to move forward, please send us an email to support@thinkreservations.com. We will ask you to provide the following information:
Point of contact - the person responsible for setting up the new account and this project.
Owner of the property - the person who is financially responsible for making changes to the Heartland account.
Business Name - Legal business name and the DBA if different.
Contact Information (including preferred phone number and email address).
Zip Code where the business is located.
Your Heartland Merchant ID Number (MID), if known.
How many EMV terminal devices are needed for your business?
Next Steps:
Once you confirm that you would like to proceed, a relationship manager (RM) from Heartland will reach out to you to finalize some details they need.
Upon receipt of confirmation, we will inform Heartland so they can start their process.
Our billing team will charge your account per the hardware requested.
Our tech team will start to set up your new EMV device(s).
As soon as your devices are set up, we will ship them out to your property.
